July 23, 2007Wyoming 4-H’ers place at national shooting invite
Kyle Hurley of Cody won a first place and every member of the Wyoming team earned finishes in the 2007 National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational June 25-28 in Rapid City, S.D.
Participants were selected based on an application and short essay, said Warren Crawford, state 4-H youth development specialist for the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES). 4-H is the youth arm of the UW CES, and its state offices are in the College of Agriculture.
Hurley was first in compound bow archery, and the Wyoming team of Hurley, Evan Estright of Cody and Alex Penor of Casper was sixth.
Brennan Bahnson of Gillette placed third in muzzleloading competition, and Tara Rose of Lingle was ninth in .22 pistol. The Wyoming team of Cody Adams of Lyman and Juliann and Bailey Terry of Newcastle placed third in hunting.
“This is only the second year Wyoming has participated in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational, and the participants represented Wyoming very well,” said Crawford. “Nine youth competed, and everyone received a top 10 finish either through their individual efforts or contributions to a team.”
