UW offers ag estate planning program March 5 in Pinedale

Estate planning can never start too early.

To help begin the process, an informative program is being offered Wednesday, March 5, in Pinedale by the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES).

"Passing It On: Beginning the Farm Transfer and Estate Planning in Wyoming" is 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Sublette County extension office, 621 S. Pine St.

The workshop focus is helping people get started with the estate transfer process and develop and implement a plan with appropriate tools.

The program is open to the public, but enrollment is limited.

"This program introduces agriculturalists to the process of transferring a farm estate," said Cole Ehmke, a personal financial management specialist with the UW CES. "Many Wyoming producers haven't started a conversation with family members about their estate and don't have even a basic will.”

Passing it On, a book and worksheets to help in the estate planning process, is available at the meeting for $10.

“This information is important when meeting with other estate-planning professionals such as attorneys, tax advisers and financial planners," Ehmke said.

For more information or to register, contact UW CES Educator Eric Peterson at (307) 367-4380 or eric@uwyo.edu.
