Tara GadeUW Student Employee of Year from College of Agriculture

A student employee in the College of Agriculture was selected University of Wyoming Student Employee of the Year.

Tara Gade, of Lewellen, Nebraska, a family and consumer sciences major with a degree option in professional child development, was presented the award during a ceremony April 17 in the UW Union. There were 33 student employees nominated for the award, according to the Department of Human Resources.

Gade, a senior, has been employed at the Early Care and Education Center for about three years, says Mark Bittner, center co-director. She has primarily worked in the infant room but has also spent time working in the preschool and toddler rooms.

“We nominated Tara for many reasons,” says Bittner, “but some of the major reasons that were given were due to her incredibly hard work ethic, her willingness to devote extra time to her job – her incredible enthusiasm for her job and her devotion to the children.”

A committee from various departments on campus judged the nominations, according to the human resources department. Gade’s name was forwarded to the western region competition of the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators for a chance to advance to national competition, but she was not selected. The regional winner was from Hawaii, and the national winner is from Kentucky.

One student from the following states, except two from California, was nominated for the regional award: Wyoming, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oregon.
