Small Acerage WorkshopSmall-acreage weed management workshop July 2 in Casper

A weed-management workshop intended for owners of small acreages is Wednesday, July 2, in the Casper area.

Weeds can become a big problem for landowners if effective management techniques are not in place. Participants will learn how to identify weeds and develop a weed-management plan. Landowners will also learn the resources available locally to combat weed problems.

The workshop is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. It begins at the Agricultural Resource and Learning Center at the Natrona County Fairgrounds.

After a brief presentation, the group will travel to a section of state land near Casper. Dress appropriately for walking through rangelands. The workshop will be held indoors in case of inclement weather.

The workshop is sponsored by the Natrona County Conservation District, Historic Trails Resource Conservation and Development Council, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Natrona County Weed and Pest Control District, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service and Wyoming State Forestry Division.

There is no charge, and refreshments will be provided. Those planning to attend should contact the Small Acreage Issue Team interns, Emily Eschbacher or Amanda Preddice. They can be reached at (307) 261-5436, extension 109 or 110, or e-mail amanda.preddice@rcdnet.net or emily.eschbacher@rcdnet.net.
