Rocky mountain pastureProducers seeking pasture for rent can access Wyoming Hay List Web site

Those with pasture to rent or seeking pasture can list or find what is available by going to the Wyoming Hay List Web site at www.wyohaylist.com.

The pasture section has been made more prominent. “Pasture has always been available on the hay list Web site, but it was not highlighted,” said Scott Keith, livestock and forage program manager with the Wyoming Business Council. “It was hidden under the alfalfa or hay section. As a result, lots of people didn’t know it was there.”

Brand inspectors through the years have always fielded queries from producers seeking pasture, said Lee Romsa, state brand commissioner with the Wyoming Livestock Board.  Collaboration between the Wyoming Livestock Board and Wyoming Business Council resulted in the pasture section being added.

“Brand inspectors are a clearinghouse of information,” said Romsa. “This is a service to producers.”

The Wyoming Hay List Web site is a joint venture between the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service and the Wyoming Business Council.

An online form can be filled out at the Web site. Required information includes the person’s name, city, phone number, county and pasture type. Optional information includes an e-mail address, if available, the number of acres and animal capacity. There is also a comment area, such as the best time to be contacted.

For those without access to the online form or who would rather provide the information to someone, contact Liz Foster with the Wyoming Livestock Board at (307) 777-6649.
