UW helps sponsor Park County irrigation information session
Landowners who want information about irrigation in Park County will find some answers in “An Introduction to Irrigation in Park County” – a program sponsored by the Park County office of the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) and county irrigation districts.
The session will be offered twice Thursday, Nov. 15 – at 10 a.m. in the EOC room of the Park County Courthouse basement in Cody and at 6:30 p.m. in the extension meeting room at the Park County Fairgrounds in Powell.
Topics include a short introduction to Wyoming water law, a review of subdivision aspects of water law, an overview of irrigation districts in Park County and a discussion of relationships between all water users.
“Irrigation districts and cooperative extension would like to help landowners understand the irrigation systems in Park County,” said Sandra Frost, UW CES crop systems educator for Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties. “Water in the Shoshone River drainage is used as many as four times before it reaches Yellowtail Reservoir. Water use links us all as friends and neighbors.”
Speakers will include Bryant Startin, manager of the Shoshone Irrigation District, and Frost.
