UW offers initial commercial pesticide applicator training

Registrations are being accepted for the initial commercial pesticide applicator training class at the University of Wyoming.

The class runs from 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, through noon Friday, Dec. 14, at the Beta House on the UW campus.

The class size is limited to 60, said Mark Ferrell, pesticide coordinator for the UW Cooperative Extension Service.  Registration is by preregistration only, he said. Conference cost is $100 plus $30 for a pesticide manual.

Registrations can be made online by going to http://outreach.uwyo.edu/conferences/conflist.aspx and click on the Register Here icon in front of the Pesticide Short Course, or print the attached brochure and send to the indicated address. Those interested can also register by calling (877) 733-3618 and pushing 2 on the phone.

The Wyoming Department of Agriculture (WDA) will offer certification examinations for specific application categories following the short course Dec. 14. There is a license fee of $25 based on pass/fail of the exams. The fee is handled through the WDA. There is no license fee for city, county, state or federal employees.
