Crystal KreinCrystal Krein begins today in Weston County

Crystal Krein today joined the Weston County University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service  office in Newcastle as a full-time 4-H youth educator, says Susan James, federal relations and staff development coordinator with CES.

“This is a new position for Weston County,” notes James. “The Weston County commissioners have been very supportive of cooperative extension and the growth of the 4-H program.”

Leadership for the 4-H Youth program was shared by area extension educators Vicki Hayman and Bill Taylor. This new position devotes a full-time person to development of 4-H youth programs in Weston County.

Crystal has been employed as the 4-H Youth educator in Big Horn County since March 2007.  She has a bachelor’s degree in range management/livestock with minors in ag marketing and ag communications from Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb. Crystal grew up on a ranch 50 miles south of Newcastle in Niobrara County, where she was a 10-year member of 4-H. She completed a 4-H internship in both Weston and Niobrara counties.

“Crystal’s extension experience and knowledge of the Weston County 4-H program will be an asset as she works to enhance the current program and develop growth of youth development programs,” says James.
