Jennifer JacobsenNutrition educator joins Teton County extension office

A nutrition and food safety educator will join the Teton County University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) office March 9.

Jennifer Jacobsen will be based in Teton County and serve the West Extension Area, which includes Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater, Teton, and Uinta counties, said Susan James, UW CES federal relations and staff development coordinator.

Jacobsen received a bachelor’s degree in dietetics in 1999 from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University in Minnesota, and also obtained her registered dietician certification. She spent two years working in the Peace Corps in Guatemala, where she taught health and nutrition classes in three rural elementary schools. She worked for the UW CES Cent$ible Nutrition Program for four years as the bilingual project coordinator targeting her nutrition education efforts on families with limited resources in Teton County.

Jacobsen participated in a six-month ecological agriculture apprenticeship through the University of California, Santa Cruz, which she completed in October 2008.

“Jennifer brings an exceptional nutrition background, and her past experience working for CES and familiarity with the area is an asset,” said James.
