Nutrition assistant joins Goshen County extension office

A program assistant for the Cent$ible Nutrition Program (CNP) has joined the Goshen County University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) office.

Jackie Hauptman began in November in Torrington and is providing nutrition education to youths and adults in the county, according to Mindy Meuli, program manager of the UW CES’s CNP in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in the College of Agriculture

Hauptman previously worked as a CNP assistant for 18 months on the Wind River Indian Reservation. A native of Laramie, she received a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1989 from the University of Nevada, Reno and a master’s degree in biology from Georgia State University in 1995.

“I’m looking forward to learning the places and people of Goshen County,” Hauptman said. “I value the outreach service UW CES provides to the citizens of Wyoming by providing research-based information. I also enjoy teaching and learning about new food and recipes, and I love meeting new people and sharing food budget tips and new food ideas.”

The UW CES CNP program helps Food Stamp Program-eligible residents learn how to eat better for less and stretch their Food Stamp buying power. CNP provides educational opportunities for Wyoming families and individuals with limited resources that lead to having access to an affordable, available, adequate, nutritious and safe food supply.
