Cara GriffinNutrition assistant joins Laramie County extension office

A Cent$ible Nutrition Program (CNP) assistant has joined the Laramie County University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) office in Cheyenne.

Cara Griffin began Jan. 7, according to Mindy Meuli, program manager of the UW CES’s CNP in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in the College of Agriculture. Griffin received a bachelor’s degree in history from Oberlin College, Oberlin Ohio, in 1995, and a master’s degree in city planning from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in 2002.

Griffin was formerly the executive director of the Laramie Main Street Program.

“I have always loved cooking and, through this interest, have become more and more interested in nutrition over the years,” said Griffin. “I’m really excited to have a chance to work with people and share information on cooking and eating well.”

The UW CES CNP program helps Food Stamp Program-eligible residents learn how to eat better for less and stretch their Food Stamp buying power. CNP provides educational opportunities for Wyoming families and individuals with limited resources that lead to having access to an affordable, available, adequate, nutritious and safe food supply.
