Asley GarreltsNew educator joins Converse County extension team

An educator for sustainable management of rangeland resources will join the Converse County University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) office in Douglas Dec. 8.

Ashley Garrelts will provide educational programs for Converse, Natrona and Niobrara counties, said Susan James, federal relations and staff development coordinator with UW CES.

Garrelts received a bachelor’s degree in range livestock management in 2003 and a master’s degree in rangeland ecology and watershed management in 2006, both from UW.

A native of Torrington, Garrelts is a 4-H alumna and completed internships in Laramie and Goshen counties. For the past two years, she worked for the Federal Natural Resources Conservation Service in Richfield, Utah.

“Ashley is a great fit for this position, having both range and livestock educational background,” said James. “She has the training to meet the needs of area agriculture producers in these livestock-based counties.”
