4-H educator joins Converse County UW CES office

A 4-H/youth extension educator has been hired for the Converse County University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) office in Douglas.

Tansey Sussex begins June 1.

A 2005 graduate of the University of Wyoming, Sussex has a bachelor’s of science degree in animal and veterinary sciences with a production option. She also received an associate of art’s degree in general agriculture from Casper College in 2003. She comes to UW CES after working two years for Casper College as a residence hall coordinator.

Sussex said she is looking forward to putting her degrees to use. “I think this is a great way to be involved in the agricultural community and also do work that will positively impact children,” said Sussex. “4-H was an important part of my growing up, and I would like to give other people the opportunity to see what a great organization it is.”

Sussex grew up near Glendo on a ranch, where she was active in both 4-H and FFA. She brings a breadth of 4-H experience from clothing and foods, to dairy, horse, and animal science, said Susan James, federal relations and staff development coordinator for the UW CES.

“Tansey brings experience in assessing needs, creating and implementing activities and programs, and documenting and reporting results,” said James. “Her experience will be an asset to the extension program in Converse County.”
