Conservation Expo participantsUW well represented at March 14 conservation expo

The University of Wyoming will be well represented at the third annual Laramie Conservation Expo Saturday, March 14, at the Albany County Fairgrounds.

The expo is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is sponsored by the Laramie Rivers Conservation District (LRCD).

Included among the 50-plus exhibitors will be the Small Acreage Issue Team, which serves small-acreage landowners in Wyoming with workshops, information and the award-winning Barnyards & Backyards magazine. Among the members of the Small Acreage Issue Team is the UW Cooperative Extension Service.

The UW Soil Testing Laboratory in the College of Agriculture’s Department of Renewable Resources will have an information booth as will the ACRES student program and the Ruckelshaus Institute of Environment and Natural Resources’ Open Spaces Initiative. Students involved in ACRES (Agricultural Community Resources for Everyday Sustainability) operate a small farm and compost program on the UW campus.

The expo provides an opportunity for local residents to meet with vendors, agency experts and each other to learn about conservation measures they can put into action in their homes and on their properties.

“We expect more than 50 exhibitors, including solar panel and wind turbine vendors, energy efficient home builders, sustainable agriculture folks, hybrid cars and agency experts with technical and funding information,” said LRCD’s district manager, Tony Hoch.

There will also be door prizes, food available for purchase and free coffee.

For more information, call (307) 721-0072, or see the complete exhibitor list at www.lrcd.net.
