Chapman received a bachelor’s degree in history in 2005 and a master’s degree in rural sociology with emphasis in community development in 2007, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

She worked three consecutive summers as a 4-H intern for the Lawrence County Outreach and Extension Office in Mount Vernon, Mo. She also completed a graduate internship in community development with the University of Missouri Extension.
