UW extension bulletin examines key estate planning documents
Recommendations for key estate planning documents are in a new bulletin from the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES).
Seven Key Estate Planning Documents to Consider, B-1193, examines wills, personal property distribution, trusts, life insurance, powers of attorney for finances, advance healthcare directives and funeral and burial arrangements. The bulletin is written by Cole Ehmke, UW CES personal finance management specialist.
“A good baseline tool for planning what will happen to the important people and things in your life is a will,” Ehmke said. “And there are other formal documents you can use to carry out your wishes. This publication will help people think about some of the options.”
The bulletin also includes a checklist that shows items completed and location of documents.
The publication is available for download at http://ces.uwyo.edu/PUBS/B1193.pdf.
Hard copies for $2 each can be ordered by going to www.uwyo.edu/cessupport/agpubs/Pubs_Request.asp?pubid=981.
