Tractor
Safety Checklist
One good way to stay safe on a tractor is to develop and use a checklist. The National Safety Council’s Agricultural Division suggests the following:
Are Rollover Protective Structures (ROPS) in place and seat belts used?
Is a power takeoff master shield in place?
Is the operator’s platform clear of debris?
Is a reflective Slow Moving Vehicle emblem posted?
Are lights and flashers working?
Are tires properly inflated?
Is the hydraulic system free from leaks?
Are the brakes equalized to prevent right or left pull?
Is a 20 pound fire extinguisher in place?
Is a fully equipped first aid kit on the tractor?
