The Wyoming Child Welfare Stipend Program is partnership project between the Wyoming Department of Family Services and the Division of Social Work.  The goal of this project is to introduce social work students to the child welfare career option.  For more than two decades now, workforce studies have shown that there is a serious shortage of prepared professionals available to work and serve the children and families who enter the child protection/child abuse and neglect field. 

Child welfare stipend programs are a long-standing federal participation program that provides social work students the opportunity to receive financial support to prepare for a career in the child welfare field.  Students compete for stipends that are used to help defray the costs of their college education. 

The Division of Social Work will provide the educational and field placement curriculum for these students. The Department of Family Services will work with the Division of Social Work to identify appropriate field placement experiences.  Students are required to work in a child welfare position in Wyoming when they finish their degree.  Please review the other tabs above for more specific information. 

The Wyoming Child Welfare Stipend Program encourages current employees of the Department of Family Services to apply for these stipends as BSW or MSW students.  All BSW admitted majors and MSW students are eligible to apply for this program.
