Meg Flanigan Skinner was named the 2009 recipient of the James C. Hurst Each Student--A Person Award, which was established by UW's parent program, Cowboy Parents to recognize a member of UW's faculty or staff who goes above and beyond the call of duty to personalize the student experience and who creates a warm and caring environment for students. The award was named in honor of Dr. James C. Hurst, UW's vice president for student affairs from 1981-2000, who is remembered for his warm and caring demeanor, his wisdom, and his dedication to student success.

This year's award recipient was described by two fellow nominating UW students as inspiring and caring.
She takes the time to make an honest effort to improve the lives of her students and strengthen their academic careers. She is without a doubt one of the most inspiring and caring teachers on this campus.
She lives by the motto of "each student, a person" and it shows in the way she conducts her classes, office hours, and activities on campus. She truly cares for each and every one of her students, and she is one of the reasons that my time here at the University of Wyoming has been so pleasurable.
She creates a wonderful environment for her students and maximizes their opportunity to learn. She not only cares for her students in the classroom, but she dedicates her spare time to the causes and activities that her students take part in. She has completely personalized my experience at the University of Wyoming, and I am forever grateful for what she has done for me.
Congratulations to Meg Flanigan Skinner for going above and beyond her job description to personalize the student experience here at UW! Thank you for all that you do Meg.
