UW Division of Student Affairs
Comprehensive Program Reviews

Every five to seven years, each unit of the Division of Student Affairs is asked to participate in a comprehensive program review (CPR). The primary purpose of the review is program improvement in quality of programs, services, and activities; availability of educational and program resources; adequacy of administrative, professional and classified staffing patterns; and expert evaluation.

CPRs assist in long-range planning and are valuable in setting priorities, identifying future goals, and assuring that co-curricular and service decisions, as well as budgets, are based on real and verifiable data. They also provide a means for the university to show its accountability for programs, services, and resources to external entities.

CPRs are coordinated by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and involve four phases: planning the review, writing a self-study report, conducting a site review and preparing a site review team report, and implementing the resulting recommendations.
