HEALTH INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Wyoming.
We look forward to meeting you on your first weekday on campus.
The goal at the Student Health Service is to serve you and to make it as easy as possible for
you to register for your classes for your first term.
To help us help you, please refer to the information below and follow the university’s
rules and regulations in a timely fashion so that you can register for your courses.
NOTE: All health information must be in English. All international students must comply with the following health requirements:
- MMR IMMUNIZATION
- Complete the Student Immunization and Health History Form.
- Proof of immunity to these Measles, Mumps and Rubella can be presented in one of four ways:
- Proof of two doses of the MMR immunization, given after 12 months of age with
the second dose at least 4 weeks after the first dose; or
- Proof of blood tests showing immunity to all three illnesses; or
- Proof of physician diagnosis of all 3 illnesses; or
- Your birth date prior to 1 January 1957
NOTE: Exemptions to this requirement will be considered if there is a medical or
religious reason for it. (Information regarding exemptions is listed on the Form.
- Additional immunization recommendations are listed on the Form, but are not
required.
- Please complete both sides of the Form.
- A medical clinician must sign the first side of the Form.
- TUBERCULOSIS TESTING

A Mantoux Tuberculosis skin test must be placed on the
arm, and the reaction read in millimeters of induration
(A report of either a positive or negative reading is not considered acceptable proof.)
- The skin test must be performed within 3 months of arrival at the
University of Wyoming.
NOTE: For an August 1 arrival, the test results are valid between May 1
and August 1; for a September 1 arrival, the test results are valid between
June 1 and September 1; for a January 7 arrival, the test results are valid
between October 7 and January 7.
- If a skin test is considered positive by
United States medical standards, a two view Chest X-Ray (PA and lateral
view) is required, as well as a visit with a Student Health Service
physician.
- A Chest X-Ray performed outside of the United States is
acceptable if performed within three months of arrival at the
University of Wyoming.
- A qualified physician must review the Chest X-Ray
and deliver a verified reading in English.
- INABILITY TO COMPLY
If you are unable to comply with these requirements prior to arrival at the University of
Wyoming, you must come to the Student Health Service immediately for immunization and testing.
- COSTS
As of September 2009, the costs to you for immunization and testing at the Student Health Service
are as follows (costs are subject to change):
- MMR: $61.80 per shot (two shots are required if there is no evidence of previous
immunizations);
- TB skin test: $5.00;
- Chest x-ray (PA and lateral views): referral to the hospital with cost determined by the hospital
- TB medications: no cost for nine months.
