Spam Blocking at UW

Beginning on March 8, 2007, all UW Exchange users should receive on a regular basis an email message from PureMessage listing quarantined spam messages. Click on message ID
To request that a message be released from the quarantine and delivered to you, click on the messages ID. Clicking on the message ID will create an email. Do not make any modifications to the email address, simply send the message. To release all messages in the list, you can simply reply to the quarantine list message. Messages are stored for 14 days, after which time they are deleted and cannot be recovered.

To opt-out of spam blocking and continue to have spam tagged and delivered to your Inbox, as described on the Spam Filtering at UW page, log in to the Spam Blocking web page at https://www.uwyo.edu/uwspam, select Options and check the box: "Disable spam content blocking for my messages."

You can also view blocked (quarantined) messages, approve (whitelist) senders, block (blacklist) senders, and delete blocked messages through the Spam Blocking (https://www.uwyo.edu/uwspam) web page.

Please contact the IT Help Desk at 766-HELP, option 1, or userhelp@uwyo.edu if you have any comments or concerns.

  • "Financial" and "Health" – meaning stock scams and illicit drugs – were the two largest categories of spam
  • North America was responsible for under 60% of total Internet e-mail and about 45% of total Internet Spam.
