Silent Trails
Race Update
After
much discussion, we have decided to officially
cancel the 2009 edition of the Silent Trails
race. Entering in to this decision was the
fact that the course will most likely not be
in race condition until next summer, and that
the next few weekends already have races
scheduled.
This race has
never been billed as a fundraiser, and in
fact, our fixed costs which include T-shirts,
forest service fees, prizes and race schwag
total nearly $18 per entry. Our donations to
the running team and memorials are based on
gifts from our generous sponsors. This year,
all sponsor donations will be returned, and
that leaves the question of how to best handle
the race cancellation. I have shared this
information in the interests of being as open
as possible with you all – the most important
part of the Silent Trails Race. Here is what
we have come up with:
·
All pre-registered entrants will receive their
t-shirts.
o
Laramie residents may pick up their shirts at
Lincoln Printing, 370 N. 3rd,
beginning Tuesday, October 13th. Please
remember to thank these folks for this
service, and we would appreciate you taking
the shirt size Indicated on your entry form.
o
Entrants from outside Laramie will have their
shirts mailed to them. Please allow a week or
so for delivery.
·
All entrants in this years’ race will receive
a 50% discount on the 2010 Silent Trails Race.
There will be clear check boxes on both the
mail in application and the Active.com site to
accomplish this.
Hope to see you
all next year!

On September 16, 2001, eight cross country runners from the University of Wyoming were killed by a drunk
driver. On the second Saturday of every October, we 'RUN FOR THE "8"', in their memory and in
celebration of their lives and commitment to running.
