2.0  Bob Jensen named CEO of Wyoming Business Council

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Business Council's Board of Directors announced their selection of Bob Jensen as the group’s new chief executive officer. During the past four months, the board conducted an extensive nationwide search for a chief executive officer. “I have known Bob Jensen for many years,” said Gov. Dave Freudenthal. “Not only is he a successful businessman, but he’s a leader with vision who thinks outside the box. Bob has an excellent work ethic, and is in tune with my desire to diversify Wyoming’s economy and help our cities and counties create the infrastructure they need to attract businesses.”

“I am honored to be selected and look forward to working with the Governor, Legislature, Board and staff to continue to diversify Wyoming's economy,” Jensen said. Prior to accepting this position, Jensen served for the past three years as chief operating officer (COO) for the Business Council. As COO, Jensen was responsible for the day-to-day operation of staff functions and played a key role in the negotiations with the National Center for Atmospheric Research and other important business development efforts.

Jensen has significant experience in both the private sector and in economic development. He served as the general manager of the historic Plains Hotel in Cheyenne during its restoration from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, Jensen owned his own marketing and economic development consulting firm. Early in Jensen’s career, he worked for Fleischli Oil for 27 years, and served as the company president from 1993 to 2000. Jensen has served as chairman of the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority and chairman of the Cheyenne, Laramie County Economic Development Joint Powers Board. He has played a key role in many other local organizations. He also serves on the University of Wyoming's College of Business Advisory Board and the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank Community Development Advisory Board.

Jensen, a Cheyenne native, is a graduate of the University of Wyoming. Jensen and his wife Jill live in Cheyenne and have a daughter who is a student at UW.

3.0  Datacorp wins NIH phase I

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Datacorp president and chief executive officer Dr. P. Allison Minugh is pleased to announce that the Datacorp team has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse of the National Institute of Health.

The SBIR is a highly competitive grant program that encourages small businesses to develop specialized technologies for commercialization. The program is designed to stimulate high-tech innovation to help the United States meet its research and development needs.

Datacorp will use its SBIR funding to develop a working prototype of the D3: Data Documentation Database. The D3 is an automated, user-friendly software package for data documentation that solves a common threat to good research – inadequate data documentation.

“In our own data management experience, we have encountered this problem repeatedly,” Minugh said. “It is endemic in clinical trials, surveys, and secondary data gathered by state agencies. Poor documentation weakens the integrity of study data and leads to incorrect conclusions, poor recommendations and differential findings — even when researchers use the same data set.

“Despite its importance, few studies document accurately. Not only are current technologies for data documentation time consuming and cumbersome, data documentation is not typically a part of formal education and training. The D3 will solve this problem using a guided format that, when combined with other features, produces accurate and complete documentation even when users have no formal training in data documentation and data management.”

Phase I will last six months and will focus on developing a working prototype. After the prototype is completed, Datacorp will seek Phase II funding which will allow it to commercialize and market the software package.

The D3 is specifically designed for research studies in the social sciences, epidemiological and behavioral health fields. The target market for the D3 is researchers, government officials, universities, research institutions and businesses that analyze and report their own data.

Datacorp has offices in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Providence, R.I. Minugh can be reached by calling 866-289-6817. For more information, contact Datacorp at info@mjdatacorp.com or visit http://www. mjdatacorp.com.
