1.0 SBIR EXPERTS MARK HENRY AND RANDY DIPNER OF PBCinc. TO PRESENT PHASE I PROPOSAL PREPARATION
Personal Business Consultants, Inc. presenters Mark Henry and Randy Dipner, are referred to as "The SBIR Guys!" Their Phase I SBIR/STTR seminar will provide an overview that includes the nuts and bolts of the SBIR/STTR programs, pre-qualification issues for potential participants (eligibility, personnel qualifications, program "fit" for the company), information about the importance of getting ready to write (e.g., homework, assessing competition, understanding the agency, collaboration), proposal-writing tips, and evaluation of writing samples. "The SBIR Guys," manage to turn what is potentially a dry subject into a day of entertaining and highly informative material based on their experiences working on more than a thousand SBIR proposals.
If you are considering participation in the SBIR/STTR program, attendance at this event is ESSENTIAL to significantly enhance your chances of success.

2.0 WSSI “CHAMPION” AND “BUSCH” AWARD NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
Nominations are being sought for the WSSI Champion and Busch Awards. An awards ceremony will be held during the WSSI conference banquet dinner on June 2.
The WSSI CHAMPION award will honor those individuals who have made significant contributions to furthering the SBIR and STTR programs in general and the Wyoming SBIR/STTR Initiative in particular.
The BUSCH award, named in recognition of the ground-breaking achievements of Dr. Chris Busch in co-founding and managing the nationally acclaimed Wyoming SBIR Initiative, will recognize those Wyoming individuals and businesses who have used SBIR and STTR funding to successfully develop and commercialize their innovative product concepts. Appropriately, Chris is widely known for emphasizing that commercialization is the end goal of the SBIR and WSSI programs and that no SBIR/STTR project can be considered successful until the product or service is commercialized.
Previous Champion award winners: 2003 – Mike Petera, Voice Viewer Technology of Powell; 2002 – Dr. David Walrath; 2001 – Governor Jim Geringer; Senator Mike Enzi; Dr. Richard Anderson; and Dr. Chris Busch.
Previous Busch award winners: 2003 – Inter-Mountain Labs (Chinook Division) of Sheridan for the commercialization of their Infrasonic Avalanche Detector; 2002 – CC Technology; 2001 – Dr. William Britz & Dr. Gail Heidbrink, Britz-Heidbrink, Inc., Wheatland; Duane Powers, Hawkins & Powers, Aviation, Inc., Greybull; John Wickman, Wickman Spacecraft and Propulsion, Casper; Ernie Schmidt, Wyoming Sawmills, Inc., Sheridan.
Nominations will be accepted for these awards until Friday, May 7th. Please email your nominations to: ewatson@wyoming.com.
