The University of Wyoming offers a variety of ways to earn credit for past learning. Not only do we award credits for many AP, CLEP scores, and IB subjects, but we also encourage students to make use of other opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge of a subject.

  • Most academic departments offer course challenge exams for introductory level classes. Contact the appropriate departments for information about this possibility.
  • The University of Wyoming also offers portfolio assessment for learning outside an academic environment. Students, in cooperation with faculty in a specific department, prepare a portfolio documenting specific course requirements. The University normally limits credits earned through this process to 12 hours.
  • The University participates in the DEFENSE ACTIVITY FOR NONTRADITIONAL EDUCATION SUPPORT PROGRAM (DANTES).

To submit your AP and CLEP scores, ask the College Board to send official copies of the exam results to:

Admissions Office
University of Wyoming
Dept. 3435, 1000 E. University Ave.
Laramie, WY 82071-3435

Once we receive your test results, we will evaluate them and post the credits you have earned to your transcript. It is just that easy.
