Sustainabillity Actions

UW Property Office is proud to share that it is taking on and meeting many expectations concerning Sustainability.  Below are some of the areas that we can share with you to understand our goals in this topic of global concern.

Through the help of UW Recycling we are able to join with others campus wide in not only recycling paper but in cutting down on the usage of paper that we use on a regular basis.  Also with the help of UW Recycling we are able to take care of freon and other harsh chemicals for refridgeration and vehicle units.

UW Property Offices has teamed with AAA Recycling right here in Laramie WY in efforts to cut down on amount of metal and aluminum items that go to the landfills.  This allows us to make a little money which gets circulated back to the Departments and University of the items that get sent to plant.  As well as including a local business to support.

UW Property Office also works hard with RMMC in order to keep the rapid increase of out dated electronics out of the environment as well.  RMMC works hand in hand with ACCESS out of Fort Collins in this measure.

We have made conections with Office Scapes in order to eliminate furniture and workstations that get trashed or remodled and sent to the landfills.  This is a venture that we are very excited about maintaining and making a more readilly accesable option for us in the future.

The Property Office is very aware of the concerns on campus and as you have noticed try very hard to meet those concerns and expectations.  There are a few areas such as wood and some plastics that we are still finding other alternatives for, but are in the waiting process to see what becomes available for us.  Through these efforts and the continuing help and support from all who go through the proper channels and paperwork for property disposal we are able to keep a healthy approximation of 90% of the property that comes through our department out of our area landfills.
