Peer Mediation Center

In order to promote resolution of disputes through the help of a neutral third party, the University of Wyoming Residence Life &Dining Services department (RLDS) maintains and staffs a Peer Mediation Center (PMC). All residents of the University residence halls and apartment communities are eligible to utilize the services offered by the PMC.

The PMC is currently located on the first floor of Downey Hall, just past the vending machines on the right and is staffed by trained students and RLDS staff members who serve as neutral mediators for disputants. All mediators are required to complete a comprehensive orientation training program offered by the PMC and must participate in ongoing weekly training sessions throughout each semester.

All disputants must enter into the mediation process voluntarily. When mediation is being utilized to avoid the student disciplinary process, the disputants are expected to operate in good faith. If at any time the mediators feel that one or more disputants is not acting in good faith, the mediation will be terminated and the case referred to the student disciplinary process. While mediation is designed for use in a wide variety of cases, the PMC shall not be utilized to resolve cases that involve sexual misconduct and/or sums of money over $100.

Services currently provided by the Peer Mediation Center include:

Third Party Mediation:

The main focus of the PMC is to mediate disputes between residents of the University residence halls and apartments.
