We have a large variety of outdoor gear available to rent! Check our list of available equipment and prices. Before you rent, please be sure you understand our policies below.

Rental Equipment Policies

Eligibility

Rental equipment is available to all university students, faculty, and staff (dependents and spouses, also). To pick up equipment, be sure to bring your WyoOne card with you. If you do not have a membership to Half Acre, please ask to sign-in at the Campus Recreation service window.

Payment

We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, IDR's (campus departments only), or UW Campus Express debit cards. Payments can be made over the phone, with a credit card only, by calling us during normal business hours.

Reservations

Payments must be paid in full at the time equipment is reserved. Payments can be made in person or by phone with a credit card only. Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to equipment pick-up time. Canceled reservations will be assessed a $5 processing fee for reservations canceled 24 hours before pick-up time. No refund will be available with less than a 24-hour notice. Refunds may be in the form of a check from the university and may take up to six weeks to process.

Deposits

Deposits are required for all equipment rentals. Deposits are not cashed unless the equipment is damaged, lost, or you are assessed a late fee. If the equipment is damaged or missing, you may be assessed more than the deposit depending on the situation. Deposits can be in the form of a check or a credit card; cash is not allowed.

Late Fees

Late fees are charged after Half Acre building closes the day the equipment is due back. Late fees amount to one-and-one-half the daily cost and continue to accumulate until the equipment is returned.

Damaged or Lost Equipment

Renters will be charged for repair and shipping of damaged equipment or full replacement cost for lost or stolen equipment. Cleaning fees are charged for returning dirty or wet equipment. Cleaning fees and repair fees are dependent upon the article of equipment.

Refunds

No refunds are made for equipment rented but not used. Renters accept equipment “as-is.”
