Service Learning Project during Law School Orientation
Each year during first year orientation, law students participate in a community service learning project in order to connect them with the Laramie community, learn about civic involvement, and get to know their fellow law students. This year's volunteer activities took place at various locations throughout Laramie, including ACRES Farm, the Clothing Cottage, and Interfaith Good Samaritan, among others. The following are photographs taken at the various project work sites.
Students get a lot out of the experience. First-year law student Sally Starkey of Laramie said, “I enjoyed working at ACRES farm and I am thinking maybe I missed my calling.” Samm Lind, first-year student from Cheyenne remarked, “We worked at the UW Recycling Center and it was unbelievable just how much paper was there! The recycling center takes the time to sort it all and it just gave me a greater awareness of the university’s recycling effort.”
