Software Licensing Programs
Information Technology participates in various software licensing programs on behalf of
UW departments, faculty and staff.
Microsoft Campus Agreement 3.0
The University of Wyoming subscribes to Microsoft's Campus Agreement 3.0. Under the agreement, institutionally owned computers - desktops and laptops - are eligible to run the latest versions of Office Professional® for Windows PCs and for the Macintosh. Upgrades
to the Windows operating systems are also included.
All computers owned by UW, including student lab systems, are eligible to update core software under this agreement. These specific Microsoft software applications and updates are free of charge to departments. Systems belonging to enrolled students are covered
under UW’s Campus Agreement for Students and offered through the WyoWare program.
Work at Home Program - UW faculty and staff can use Microsoft Office and Windows XP Pro at home
for campus-related work.
Cooperating agencies will need to make arrangements through our
Academic Select
License 6.0 Program to gain access to these resources.
Downgrade rights grant the right to use prior versions of Microsoft® software. Customers who acquire licenses through Microsoft Campus and Select agreements qualify for downgrade rights. Information Technology may not always have the media you need for older versions
of applications or systems. It is the responsibility of the user to find appropriate installation CDs.
Adobe/Macromedia CLP License Program
The University of Wyoming is a member of Adobe’s Open
Options Contractual Licensing Program (“CLP”), effective December
22, 2004. As a member, UW is able
to secure volume pricing on various Adobe and Macromedia software products. This
significantly reduces the costs incurred by UW departments and colleges.
All University of Wyoming departments are eligible to purchase licenses through the CLP. Cooperating Agencies such as state and federal agencies do not qualify under this program.
Additional software agreements
Other software licensing programs include Microsoft's Select License
Program; agreements with SAS and SPSS software vendors; and a
licensing agreement with Hummingbird (Exceed software).
