Machine Room, Ivinson Building, Room 14

Currently the machine room is staffed 24 hours a day except for unattended time every Sunday from 7:20 am until 6:00 am Monday and during scheduled Unattended Service dates (listed below). In the event of an emergency during unattended times an on-call person can be reached through the Help Desk at 766-4357, option 3.

Scheduled System Times

Maintenance work is required periodically on the data network, computing systems and servers. Maintenance on Information Technology supported systems is scheduled between 12:01 am and 12:00 noon on Sundays. Maintenance on some PeopleSoft systems may continue to 6:00 pm on Sundays. IT will make every effort to minimize core system downtime. On rare occasions emergency maintenance may continue beyond 12:00 pm.

Unattended Service Schedule

Most UW administrative holidays are also designated as Unattended Service dates. Unattended Service means that there will be no operators in the machine room and the Ivinson building will be locked. Consequently, there will be no one available to mount tapes, provide printouts or answer the telephone.

Most Server Systems are available on Unattended Service dates to provide access to electronic mail and other functions which do not require operator support.
