Voice over IP Telephone Service at UW
Voice over IP (VoIP) service is currently available only in limited
campus locations due to network configurations and cost.
Voice over IP (VoIP) represents the next generation in communication services. By moving
voice services to the data network, a separate, managed voice infrastructure is eliminated
and the costs of telephone moves, adds and changes are dramatically reduced. VoIP service
does require significant upgrades to equipment.
Cisco CallManager
CallManager is a free web application/interface included with UW's VoIP telephone
service. It allows the user to change and update settings on their IP phone without having
to contact the Telecommunications Help Desk.
