Statistical package software licensing through Information Technology

SAS Software

Information Technology provides SAS free of charge to university departments. It is recommended that individuals install the software from the UW network by following the How To instructions available through the AskIT Web site or going to the UW IT Software Web page (choose Statistical software). Local installations are available by checking out a CD from Information Technology. Contact your IT departmental user consultant for assistance. If the computer will be removed from the network, a local installation of the SAS software is required. Contact the Client Support Services Front Desk at 766-3686 for information on checking out the software for a local installation. To run SAS from the network, you must ask for each username to be added to the SAS share, even if someone else installed the software on the computer you are using.

PASW Software (formerly SPSS)

Information Technology provides PASW/SPSS free of charge to UW departments when the statistical package is installed from the UW network. PASW/SPSS software can be installed from the UW network by following the How To instructions available through the AskIT Web site or going to the UW IT Software Web page (choose Statistical software). If the computer will be removed from the network, a local installation of the PASW/SPSS software is required. Contact the Client Support Services Front Desk at 766-3686 for information on checking out the software for a local installation. To run PASW/SPSS from the network, you must ask for each username to be added to the PASW/SPSS share, even if someone else installed the software on the computer you are using.

The price quote below only applies to individuals wanting to purchase PASW/SPSS software and have it installed locally on their computer equipment using departmental funds. Checks and cash cannot be accepted, IDRs only please.

PASW/SPSS software licensing fee: $135 per year
Bring the completed SPSS registration form (PDF format) with your IDR to the IT Front Desk, Information Technology Center, to purchase an SPSS license.

Above charges are for the yearly licensing fee, which is renewed each July. All registered users will be notified by mail to either update the product, or have the product removed from their computer. For new users adding the product at other times of the year, IT prorates the licensing fees by quarters.
