Adobe CLP License Program

The University of Wyoming is a program member of Adobe’s Open Options Contractual Licensing Program (“CLP”). As a member, UW is able to secure volume pricing on various Adobe and Macromedia products. This significantly reduces the costs incurred by UW departments and colleges. The current program is effective through December 2011.

UW departments are eligible to purchase Adobe CLP licenses and media using a University of Wyoming IDR for payment. Personal purchases are not available nor allowed through this program.

Some popular software titles available for Windows and Macintosh platforms through this program are Adobe Acrobat, Creative Suite, GoLive, Illustrator, InDesign, Pagemaker, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, ColdFusion, Fireworks, Freehand, and Studio. There are limited products available for the SUN, Unix, and Linux platforms. Please see the Adobe CLP Program Products and Pricing page (https://www.uwyo.edu/itsoftware/order/adobe.asp) for a complete list of software titles and prices. Macromedia software products are available through the Adobe CLP Program.

Software Upgrades

Adobe also provides an Upgrade Plan for various licenses. Upgrade Plan is an additional up-front fixed cost that users can pay to receive future versions of software product – upgrades – that are covered under Upgrade Plan. Under Upgrade Plan, users receive any upgrades (release of newer versions), bug fixes, and updates during the term of their Upgrade Plan coverage that Adobe makes generally available. Users should enroll their license in Upgrade Plan at the time of purchase. Enrolling the new license in Upgrade Plan now allows the plan to be renewed.

Software Training

Information Technology offers classes on certain Adobe products – Acrobat, Photoshop, and InDesign (see IT's Computer Training pages (www.uwyo.edu/InfoTech/Training/) for a complete description of IT’s Computer Training Opportunities at UW). IT user consultants are available to assist users with installation of Adobe products, but are not able to provide functional support or advise customers on how to use Adobe products. Therefore it is highly recommended that customers enroll in computer training courses. Adobe's Technical Support Directory phone number is 800-879-3219.

Installation Options

Some products will be available through electronic download from the UW network while some products will be available through media (CD) checkout. At this time, Adobe Creative Suite is not available for electronic download due to its multiple programs and large size. In order to checkout media (CDs) from Information Technology, a $30 IDR deposit is due at the time of check out. For products not available through download or checkout, clients are responsible for purchasing media at an additional cost. Documentation sets are also available for an additional cost. Please contact the IT Information Desk at 766-3686 for documentation set and CD pricing. Prices and availability are subject to change without notice. For assistance with your Adobe product, call 800-443-8158 or go to www.adobe.com.

Ordering Information

To place an order online go to the IT Software site and follow the instructions. Or, use the Adobe price list on the IT Software site to fill out an IDR with the appropriate ordering information. IDRs should be made out to Information Technology, and must include the full name and user name of the person who will be using the software. Also list all product names and the part number (https://www.uwyo.edu/itsoftware/order/adobe.asp)s on the IDR. Please send the IDR to the IT Client Support Services Front Desk, Information Technology Center. Personal checks will not be accepted.

Users will be notified by Adobe when their order has been processed and users will be provided with a login ID and password, which can be used to download available software. In cases where media (CDs) are required, it is typically shipped at the same time the license order is placed with the distributor and it should arrive shortly after the license order has been processed.

Note: all Macromedia software orders are delivered on and incur charges for CDs.

Eligibility

All University of Wyoming departments are eligible to purchase licenses through the CLP. Cooperating Agencies such as state and federal agencies do not qualify under this program.

Note: All software and licenses obtained through the Adobe CLP Agreement remain the property of UW. Payment can be sent to the IT Client Support Services Front Desk, Information Technology Center.

Adobe software licensed at the office may be used at home providing two people are not using the software at the same time. Software licensed for office use may be used on a laptop provided two people are not using the software at the same time.

Prices are subject to change without notice. Products listed in the Adobe Price List are subject to availability and may change without notice. Prices listed in the Adobe Price List (https://www.uwyo.edu/itsoftware/order/adobe.asp) are for the cost of the license (the right to use the software) only. There is an additional charge for CDs, beginning at $30. Call 766-3686 for current CD prices. For any questions regarding the product descriptions and Adobe pre-purchase consulting, please contact Chad Adams at 800-751-5706 extension 7251, or Melissa Mitchell at extension 7252.
