Computing at UW:
Information for Prospective Students and Parents
Choosing which college or university to attend is an important decision. Many factors are
involved in making that decision, and one that should not be overlooked is the integration
of information technology into the fabric of campus life. This section is intended to help
prospective students and their parents find answers to questions concerning the role and
availability of information technology at UW.
The University of Wyoming is a member of EDUCAUSE, an
international, nonprofit association whose mission is to help shape and enable
transformational change in higher education through the introduction, use, and management of
information resources and technologies in teaching, learning, scholarship, research, and
institutional management. Current membership includes more than 1,800 colleges,
universities, and education organizations and more than 190 corporations.
EDUCAUSE has developed a Guide to
Evaluating Information Technology on Campus, which consists of a series of
information technology related questions for prospective students and their parents to ask
when evaluating educational institutions. The questions are organized into four sections: Academic Experience, Administrative
Experience, Social Experience and Requirements,
Services & Costs. These pages attempt to answer questions suggested by the EDUCAUSE Guide
to Evaluating Information Technology on Campus.
