ON THE ROAD is a summer program series on the
American counterculture. It explores social and cultural changes in America
in the 1950s - 60s, including responses to urban life, the emergence of the
New West, the breakdown of class structure and the rejection of values and
morals of previous generations.
Books in the reading series are:
On the Road by Jack Kerouac
The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac
Howl by Allen Ginsberg
Junky by William S. Burroughs
Audiobooks of all titles are available at public libraries in Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie and Lusk.
OTHER PROGRAMS include a day-long bus tour to beat hangouts in Denver on June 22, poetry slams, and movie screenings. Not all activities will be the same at all locations.
