Printable Job Opportunity

Department: Anthropology

College of Arts and Sciences

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Wyoming seeks a sociocultural anthropologist for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2010. We seek someone possessing theoretical sophistication and an active ethnographic research program to complement the existing strengths of the department. Ph.D. must be in hand by December 31, 2009. The Department of Anthropology offers the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in anthropology. We encourage a holistic approach to our discipline, so background in and engagement with other subfields of anthropology, especially linguistic anthropology, is an asset. We are housed in a new state-of-the-art facility, which includes a museum, and have experienced substantial growth in enrollments and majors in recent years. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four courses per year, to maintain an active program of publication and scholarly dissemination, to advise both undergraduate and graduate students, to perform service duties, and to contribute to the collegial atmosphere of the department. The University of Wyoming is located in Laramie, which is surrounded by the Medicine Bow National Forest, and is approximately a two-hour drive north of Denver.
