1. What is the actual procedure of hire after I turn in my application?
Application materials are forwarded daily to the hiring department. The morning after the position closes, the remaining application
materials are forwarded to the department. The department contact or committee
decides who they would like to interview and submits that list of names back to
our department. We then check the application materials to make sure the applicants
satisfy the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) listed for the position. The applicants that do meet the
KSA's are contacted by the department for interviews. After
the interview, the department makes the recommendation to hire, which requires administrative approval.
2. Can I turn in a UW application for employment on the day that a position closes?
Yes, we accept applications until the close of business on the closing day. (5:00 p.m. during the academic year and 4:30 p.m.
during the summer)
3. Do I need to attach a resume and cover letter for the position?
Yes, a resume is required for all positions, as well as any other information

materials that would supplement your application.
