Outstanding FCS
students honored at annual event
Outstanding students
and graduating seniors in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences were
honored April 21 during the department’s annual student recognition event at
the
“This event is one
of our most favorite. It gives faculty and staff members an opportunity to
recognize outstanding student performances,” says
Donna Beth Downer, an FCS alumna and former department head, was the keynote speaker.
Holly Stevens, a
senior from
“It was kind of a surprise. I wasn’t really expecting this as I thought a lot of my classmates were very deserving of the award,” says Stevens, who has applied to medical school.
Asked why she won the award, Stevens replied with a laugh, “I must have really fooled them.” On a more serious note, she says she worked hard throughout her college career, concentrating heavily on academics.
Faculty members also honored the following students:
Outstanding class
awards – Adrianna
Scholarships – Lindsay Suchor, Wyoming Dietetic Association; Lauri Smith, Shafika Khaleel, and Lindsay Suchor, Kohrs Memorial; Katelyn Holloway, Gayle Neubauer Shaw Graduate Scholarship; Ronda Cauffman, Eleanor Frye, and Elysa Schiltz, Marion Yule Scholarship.
Graduating bachelor’s and master’s students were also recognized as well as student leadership by the Student Chapter of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Phi Upsilon Omicron, and the Student Dietetic Association.
