Research Interests:

My primary research interest concerns the clean color of U.S. wool.  Of particular interest are the effects of scouring, carding and storage on clean color.  In addition, evaluation of the propensity of U.S. wools to develop yellow discoloration is an important consideration and determining the role of the environment and animal genotype towards the discoloration.

The sheep industry in the U.S. has been experiencing a decline in numbers in the last 30 years.  There has also been a decline in the number of U.S. processors.  This makes it imperative that domestic wool meet international standards to have any success in the export market.

Other research interests include the effectiveness of commercial laundry detergents; scholarship of teaching (in particular group activities in online classes).
