2010 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

Chemistry Research in Energy Science

The 10-week summer program will involve hands-on research in energy science, in which students will work with one of our participating faculty mentors. The research involves a wide variety of fundamental and applied research projects associated with the development of clean and renewable energy resources. Each project tries to tackle current research problems using modern equipment and the existing expertise of the research groups involved. A minimum stipend of $4000 will be provided along with 3 upper division credits. The program runs from May 24 to July 30, and will also involve educational and recreational field trips. (READ MORE)

Chemistry Graduate Program Stipend for 2010-2011
Teaching Assistantship

$21,500 total for the first year + a full tuition waiver

All students admitted to the graduate program are supported by a teaching assistantship during their first year contingent upon satisfactory performance.

Doctoral Academic Fellowships

$26,000 total for the first year + a full tuition waiver

Distinguished fellowships are limited and reserved for outstanding candidates. Fellowship selection is made on a competitive basis.

Minimum requirements to apply for the Doctoral Academic Fellowship include:
• GPA: 3.5
• GRE: 1200 (V+Q) and 5.0 (Analytical writing)
• three letters of recommendation
Starting the second year, graduate students are supported by their research group via a Graduate Assistantships or by the Department of Chemistry via the Teaching Assistantship (minimum stipend $21,500).
