Journalism Major
The journalism degree is designed to prepare students for careers as reporters, editors and writers with urban newspapers, community newspapers, news services, magazines, public information, public relations, and advertising.

Required Courses:

  • COJO 2400 Introduction to Photography
  • COJO 3200 Graphics of Communication or COJO 4120 News Editing
  • COJO 3480 Internship (3 hours)
  • COJO 3530 Online Journalism
  • COJO 4500 Mass Communication Law
  • Departmental electives (At least 12 of the 15 elective hours must be upper-division and must include one of the following specialty areas:)
