Meet Our Current Residents

PGY I

David Dansie, D.O.David Dansie, D.O. David is looking forward to utilizing and honing his Osteopathic skills in a program that recognizes and appreciates the skills that an Osteopathic physician can bring to the team. A native of Utah he chose to complete his medical education in Missouri, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. When David is not spending time with his wife Jen and son Liam, he enjoys his fencing club, jet skiing and history.
 
Shannon Evans, D.O.Shannon Evans, D.O.
Shannon is a native of Wyoming. She is a graduate of KCUMB. Shannon’s work experience included working as a CNA and as research assistant, which doesn’t seem to be nearly as interesting as her volunteer work, where she cleaned walls and lockers of an inner city high school, acted as a patient for different scenarios for mine rescue teams, and allowed students with the AAO to practice manipulation on her. Outside of medicine Shannon runs two to three miles about four times a week, and enjoys hiking, and photography.

Anureet Gill, M.D.Anureet Gill, M.D. Anureet has been living in Massachusetts while her husband completes his education. He will graduate in June. Her family moved to the US right before graduation from Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Amritsar. She came to find that health-care conditions that she had seen in India are a stark contrast to the ones in the US. Her interests include listening to music, community activities, cooking, and traveling. Anureet feels that moving to Cheyenne will be a welcome change from big city life.

Robin Hallman, M.D.Robin Hallman, M.D. Robin graduated with her M.D. from the American University of the Caribbean and received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. She did the majority of her clerkships with Harvard affiliated hospitals in Framingham and Cape Cod. Two other clerkships were completed in a third world hospital on the island of Curacao. She has lived in many places around the world and looks forward to serving the rural communities of Wyoming. She is married to husband, Steve and has a son, Joshua, who is entering The University of Florida. She likes playing with her three Japanese Chins, Deoshee, Hilo and Tychew. Robin spends her free time with family and enjoys figure skating, for which she has won numerous medals.

 Sharon King, M.D.Sharon King, M.D.
Sharon is from Burns, Oregon and a graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. Her work experience has included everything from being a life guard, ranch hand (driving tractors), mailroom assistant, to research intern, developing high and medium molecular weight polymers for use in paint emulsification and as a research assistant, studying the DNA of T. Gondi, an organism that has many similarities to malaria. Sharon enjoys camping, hiking, cooking, reading, competitive swimming, traveling, and participating in community events and outreaches. These are some of the very reasons she has chosen to join the UW Family Medicine Program in Cheyenne.

Shahla Mousavi, M.D.Shahla Mousavi, M.D. Born in Iran, Shahla moved to Boulder, CO to join her husband where he was a Ph.D. candidate. She discovered our program while working with several of our residents while they were at Denver Children’s Hospital in Denver. Shahla feels that despite cultural differences, it is clear that as a health care professional, improving the health status of our respective communities is a common interest. Shahla has many medical interests, but in her free time she enjoys biking, hiking, cross country skiing, reading, Persian poetry and traveling. She is excited to bring her husband and daughter to Cheyenne.

PGY II

Michael Abrahams, M.D.Michael Abrahams, M.D.. Michael is a native of Nebraska, where he completed both his undergraduate and medical school at Creighton University. While in undergraduate Michael majored in biology and completed research funded for NASA. He has long been an advocate for primary care medicine and was an active volunteer in medical school. He also maintains a healthy life outside of his medical pursuits by mountain climbing, backpacking, downhill skiing and sport shooting.

Jody Cousins, M.D.Jody Cousins, M.D. Jody grew up in Wyoming where she received her education and continued her undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming. She was selected as a Wyoming “WWAMI” student, and graduated from the University of Washington Medical School. Initially Jody pursued a surgery internship at The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, however her goals have changed significantly and she feels that there is no career more challenging than Family Medicine. Returning to Wyoming for Family Medicine is exciting to her. Jody feels a special connection to the rural population and understands its many challenges, and is even more confident in her decision to become a Family Medicine physician after the alternate route in her medical education.

Peter Hanna, M.D.Peter Hanna, M.D. Peter was born in Brooklyn, New York and has lived in Pennsylvania, Arizona, England, Belize, and California. Peter received his Bachelors in Science in Biology from the University of California, Riverside. He received his M.D. from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and his Masters of Health Services Administration from St. Joseph’s College in Maine. In his spare time, Peter enjoys running, working with his hands on many projects such as remodeling and woodworking, and spending time with his wife.

Lorraine Manciet, M.D.Lorraine Manciet, M.D. Lorie was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona where she graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Physiology.  After receiving her Ph.D. Lorie became a faculty member of the U. of A. where she conducted research focused on the structural and functional changes in preserved and diabetic hearts.  Lorie says her most notable achievement is raising her three exceptional sons.  When her boys finished school and were on their own, Lorie left her research career to fulfill her dream to become a physician.  After she graduated from Central American Health Sciences University she matched her first choice with the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program at Cheyenne, where she says “she is having the time of her life!”

Behice Ozbay, M.D.Behice Ozbay, M.D. Behice, also known as “BJ,” completed her medical education at the Hacettepe University in Turkey. She started her internship and Residency in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Two years later she made the first big move in her life to South Africa. There she completed a Tropical Medicine and Hygiene degree at the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg. She had spent several exciting years at the Fever Hospital when she decided to open her own private practice as a GP. During her time as a General Practitioner she realized that Family Medicine was what made her a complete doctor. After three years there she made her second big move with her family to the US. She has since gone through many trials and has maintained a position as a PA in a Family Medicine Clinic in Denver. Her PA experience there only increased her desire to be a Family Medicine physician. Behice has a son and a daughter, who she loves visiting in Denver. She enjoys traveling with her husband when she gets a chance. Behice also finds time to pursue her hobbies which include painting, drawing, stamping, and cycling.

Anna Wilkins, M.D.Anna Wilkins, M.D. Anna comes to us from Los Angeles, California, but grew up in Tennessee. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Florida State University. While working in the pharmaceutical and medical research fields, she completed her MBA at Pepperdine University, and decided to pursue her lifelong dream to become a doctor. She received her MD from American University of the Caribbean and completed her 3rd and 4th years of medical school at Kern Medical Center in California. Anna enjoys spending time with her husband, and just about anything outdoors, especially snowboarding.

PGY III

Afsaneh Arefie, M.D.Afsaneh Arefie, M.D. Better known as “Afi”, Afsaneh was born in a small city north of Iran.  Her travels have taken her from the Far East and Canada, Colorado and finally to Wyoming.  Afi received her MD from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and continued her post-graduate education in the field of Anesthesiology.  Afi worked as an Anesthesiologist and Respiratory Care Management at an ICU for 3 years.    In her spare time she worked in a field hospital providing care to the villagers in Aliabad.  These experiences confirmed her passion that she wanted to be a primary care physician.  As an avid fly fisherman, her husband was already familiar with Wyoming’s great fishing spots.   Afi enjoys Pilates, running, bicycling, painting, and of course spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Douglas Bell, D.O.  Douglas is the first college graduate on both sides of his family, and in fact he is the only person that he is aware of with a Tongan background to make it to medical school in the US. graduating from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  During college he organized both a tennis club and taught tennis to a group of students and also taught and led a group of students in various Polynesian dance performances.  It is no wonder that his special interests include racquetball, tennis, Polynesian dance instruction and performance, piano, and singing.  Douglas is a great asset in the clinic as he is fluent in Spanish, which he learned while he was a volunteering as a church representative in Venezuela for 2 years. He enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter.

Jeremy EatonJeremy Eaton, D.O. Jeremy is a native of a small farming community in Washington State.  He attended Western Washington University for his bachelors in outdoor recreation.  After working at various wilderness survival and other outdoor programs in Idaho, Washington, Michigan and New Jersey he returned to SUNY  New Platz for pre-med and Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in San Francisco for medical school.  Jeremy enjoys spending time hanging out with his baby daughter and wife, a chiropractor who owns a clinic in Cheyenne, and being a self-proclaimed movie freak.

Elizabeth GreenElizabeth Green, M.D. Liz grew up in New Mexico and Texas and received a BA from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.  Liz got her M.S. in kinesiology at the University of Colorado, Boulder and her M.D. from the University of Vermont.  She worked as a volunteer Wilderness EMT on Mt. McKinley, AK, and was an instructor for Colorado Outward Bound School.  She has also worked as a mountain and trekking guide in Mexico, Peru, Kenya and Nepal.  This would explain her interest in skiing, climbing, biking, and running.  Her other interests include art, gardening, jazz and classical music.  The year prior to starting medical school she worked as a patient care provider for Hospice of Boulder County.
 Paul MoniePaul Monie, M.D. Paul completed a Masters of Public Health degree along with his MD from St. George's University School of Medicine.  His undergraduate studies were at Portland State University.  Paul has been involved in youth development and instruction, especially outdoor activities for many years.  He also spent a year during high school as an exchange student living and studying in Japan.  He describes living a life of diversity, from jobs as different as welding, librarian, teaching, an adventure guide in British Columbia, and a FIFA soccer referee to working in hospitals from the West Indies to England and the United States.  This would explain his diverse interests outside the realms of medicine such as:  cross country skiing, surfing, rock climbing, kayaking, sailing, ultimate Frisbee, photography, guitar, piano, telemark skiing, volleyball, welding, bicycling, chess, SCUBA diving and Yoga.
