Their website is http://www.ncaur.usda.gov/. All requests for cultures should be made directly to NCAUR at Peoria.
The culture collection at the time of deposit consisted of lyophilized isolates of soil microfungi in approximately 163 genera (see below). The original prefixes and culture numbers will be retained, to allow tracing any given culture in the published ecological and taxonomic literature, but will be preceded by “NRRL” to indicate that the cultures currently are a part of the USDA collection at Peoria. The three sub-collections, each with its own identifying prefix, are: A) the WSF collection (Wisconsin Soil Fungi), consisting of cultures isolated by students of M. P. Backus, W. F. Whittingham and J.T. Curtis (Department of Botany, University of Wisconsin-Madison) in 1950-1965; B) the DM collection (cultures given to Martha Christensen by Daniel Mahoney), consisting of soil isolates from the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador; and C) the RMF collection (Rocky Mountain Fungi), consisting of isolates from surveys conducted at the University of Wyoming in 1963 -1999 (Part I) and 2000 to 2001 (Part II) using soils from about 67 sites - - deserts, grasslands, tundra, forests - - in North America including 7 Long-term Ecological Research sites (LTER), designated and funded through NSF. Isolates of soil fungi from about 48 sites in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America are included in the RMF collection as well, primarily in the RMF WT series (Part I, 1963-1999) and RMF Part II, 2000-2001(Amazon, Fair Isle and Namibia collections).
