Chap minutes for October 18

  1. Senior Housing Committee updates

a.        Anna Davenport reported on the physical activities committee – they are planning to do a health questionnaire, explain what type of exercise they will be offering, and educate participants about what changes to expect when they begin exercising (i.e., increase in heart rate and breathing rate).  They will also discuss warning signs to watch for, such as dizziness, shortness of breath, etc.  The committee will be meeting 10/25 at 10am in the banquet area of Senior Housing.  This is where the Sit-tercise class will eventually take place.  Exercising will begin on Tuesday, October 30 and is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am.   If you are interested in helping with this project, contact Anna Davenport at  AMD@uwyo.edu

b.        Halloween decorating at Senior Housing was planned for October 19 from 1:30-3pm.

  1. AED updates
    1. Kristine Young said the Blood Drive on 10/15 drew 24 donors.  They had lots of help available.  Thanks to all who participated.
    2. Amber Anderson – Tobacco policies on campus – will talk to AED on 10/24 at 5pm, in Health Sciences, room 364. Tobacco representatives provide support to the Rodeo Club.  The question was raised whether or not Amber would have suggestions for other donors if the tobacco companies don’t provide the support.  Those interested should plan to attend this meeting.
    3. Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army – they will need volunteers to help with this.  Contact Kristine Young at krisyo23@uwyo.edu if you can help.

    1. SHAC also plans to meet with Amber Anderson regarding tobacco policies on campus to determine what type of support they are looking for.
    2. Flu Prevention – SHAC will be in the Union on Wednesday 10/24 from 10am – 2pm to pass out flu/cold prevention kits.  They have plenty of volunteers.
